Gulkarmat Agency to Add Five Independent Hydrants

Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) will add five independent hydrants this year.

Independent Hydrants Installed in 7 Areas in East Jakarta

Agency's Operation Facility Head, Muslim Suseno, said by adding this five hydrants, there will be 39 units of independent hydrants in Jakarta.

The independent hydrant will be functioned as early extinguishing in residential. The coverage is one kilometer. It can be also used as water source during extinguishing.

According to him, the capacity of one fire truck can only be last in seven minutes. That is why independent hydrant is important to also reload the fire truck water.

"The hydrants will be placed in prone to fire and densely populated areas," he said, Monday (1/15).

He added that the independent hydrant will be operated by fire volunteer. The resident can use the hydrant to get water during the dry season, including cleaning the area after flood.

"We have give them training about how to operate the hydrant," he added.

Muslim continued that this program is part of Jakarta Provincial Government commitment in advancing the area tenacity of fire impact and other emergency conditions such as getting water. It surely will give positive impact for local resident.

"The locations are being calculated. It will be developed in April or May 2024 and is targeted to finish in October 2024," he closed.
